AGM 2009 Update

The Manchester Branch’s AGM took place on 14th September 2009 - the minutes of which can be viewed on its website. During the Treasurer’s Report it was noted that the final year-end accounts were not available and so could not be approved at this meeting.

Synopsis

This presentation discusses the design of Payments Hubs based on real experiences in modernising payments processing within a well-known UK clearing bank.

In the area of payments there is a need to provide transparency and traceability of monetary movements. Other changes include the strengthening of regulations and the introduction of new Euro zone payments frameworks. The recent credit crunch has further highlighted the need to monitor systemic risk exposure associated with settlement.
